Paper science

Have you ever wondered why paper often tears in a straight line in one direction and in a wavy line in the other? This session will help you to understand. You'll get a chance to rip, blot, colour and trace with different papers to explore their properties. We'll be experimenting with everyday paper materials and discovering why they are particularly suited to their purpose. Conservators will demonstrate why some papers are great for use in conservation treatments. This session may get a little messy so don't wear your best clothes.
