For people not familiar with the philosophy of the Pan Afrikanists this is a profitable read.� Outlined in a series of essays, illustrated by ‘;paintings’ of the principals, it is easy and pleasant to read. Children can read an essay at a time and find out about these people who had such a strong feeling about Afrika and advocated continuous contact , identification and cooperation. Afrocentric, you could say. The� 17 essays are succinct and tell you all you need to know at first sight. Many of the names are familiar, Sojourner Truth, George Padmore,� CLR James, Frederick Douglass, additions of ‘latter day’ Pan Afrikanists .
�Mohammed Ali, Martin Luther King, deservedly so for they spoke in one voice as their predecessors and with as much spirit.� This volume is well produced and would make an ideal gift for a god-child or even a teacher of Black children. For, many of these people were intellectuals, something not often welcomed in the host community. |
