Wind - Rush, Banana -Boat
No need to cuss
No need to swear
I won’t take an oath
But sink or float
By the rivers of Babylon, I won’t take a note
Innocent children of Africa
Brutally torn from the bosoms of our dear Mother,
Mama Africa
And the hapless loins of our beloved Father,
Papa Africa
Gang-raped and butchered
Thrown upon the bloody oceans of brutality
Locked into the deadly trans-atlantic triangle
Blood, sweat and tears
Death slavery and captivity
Desecrating the painful journey
Violating our sacred ancestry
Suppressing and stagnating the retentive African memory
Then came the wars of the century
Decimating the so-called greatness of Britain
And the victims of slavery, were summoned to the rescue
Defending and reconstructing the slave master’s country
The homes of our “frienemy”.
Now that’s the highest expression of any humanity!
Wind-Rush, Banana-Boat
No need to cuss, no need to swear.
I won’t take an oath,
But sink or float,
By the rivers of Babylon
I won’t ever take a note
Now I’m talking to you!
And you! And you!
And the whole world knows who
I’m talking to
What will you do for Mama Africa
In cultivating a new foundation for the future?
And it’s now or never!
Wind-Rush, Banana-Boat
No need to cuss, no need to swear,
I naah tek noh oath,
But sink or float
By the bloody rivers of Babylon
I naah hold a note!
Wind- rush banana-boat.
