LOVERS ROCK FILM DONATION

Dear Friend

I am contacting you because I am seeking to raise completion funds of £50,000 to complete my latest documentary film project THE STORY OF LOVERS ROCK. I am seeking funding for the post - production, music rights, archive material and marketing costs to make it ready for national cinema distribution.

The project to-date has been self financed along with large doses of goodwill from artists and film crew. However the cost of editing, music clearances, archival rights and sound mixing and other costs including marketing cannot be done on good will alone and my own pockets are now bare. I have tried to get financed from film industry organisations without success hence why I am asking you for your support

Synopsis
The STORY OF LOVERS ROCK is a feature length documentary that tells the story of a genre of reggae that was created in the UK. It was influential and successful in the 70s and 80s and still lives today. Along with the music came the dance and fashion that made it a unique brand.
Inspired by female artists Lovers Rock was the first ‘girl power’ music in the UK at a time of heightened political tension and racial unrest. The film consists of live performance, comedy and interviews that provides an untold portrait of the post Windrush generation. Artists include Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson, Jean Adebambo, Maxi Priest, Michael Gordon, Sandra Cross. Also featured are Angie Le Mar, Eddie Nestor, Robbie Gee, Wayne Rollins, Glenda Jaxson.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A DONATION FOR?
To complete the editing, sound and picture mixing, music clearances, film and photography archive and marketing costs.

CAN I DONATE MORE THAN £250?
Whoopee! Yes you can. Not only will your name be in lights but will have a chance to rub shoulders with celebrities at special celebrity events and after parties.

IF I DON’T HAVE £250 WILL A FIVER DO?
We accept all donations no matter how small. Just don’t expect a fiver to get your name up in lights and rubbing shoulders with celebs at after parties.

WILL I GET ROYALTIES?
No royalties are offered for donations. This is why I have kept the level of donations at a very low level. Royalties can only be made on equity investments. Such investments are still possible over £1500.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE GIVEN MY DONATION?
You will be notified that we have received your donation. Your name will be put on our database
and you will be kept informed of the progress of the film and any events via e-mail.
