THE BLACKWORLD – EVOLUTION TO REVOLUTION
BY Prince Justice - Published by AU Pubs, a subsidiary of AU Media reviewer imani
This book opens with ’Back to Basics’. The author informs us that ‘many black people, even the intellectuals, leaders and activists, can’t name the world’s five largest black ethnic groups . . .’ Most of us ‘can easily differentiate a French from a Russian person . . .but can’t make a full account of themselves,’ as we are the products of Western civilisation’.
Surely this very informative book will fill in the blanks from our very beginnings. Prince Justice covers a lot of history, but in a way that is not only informative, but user friendly. He goes beyond slavery, and attempts to fill in what was Afrika, before it was ‘discovered’ by Europeans.
He talks about survival and the types of food that Afrikans ate, in the ‘Yam Belt’ and the rain forest. He discusses Christianity and how it influenced Afrika, as well as Islam, and the beginning of Judiasm.
This is a serious book which must be read with attention because a lot of ground is covered. The important thing is that it is an exciting read and can very well be grouped with a recent publication on Pan Afrikanism. Together they present a wide range of information. This book is well researched and has an excellent Bibliography and should be included in any reading list for schools. |
