International Film Documentary
The Healing Of Africa Monument Project
Outline
January 2008
Selected Organizations To Receive Honorary Humanitarian Empowerment Award
If you are not yet fully aware of The Healing Of Africa Monument Project, this document is for your attention. An international selection of community-based organizations has been launched for a major international film documentary. It is imperative that you at least familiarize your organization with this global project. The selection process will identify 50 organizations from various countries to be featured in a film documentary. Amongst many facets of the project is the Honorary Humanitarian Empowerment Award of £250,000 designated for organizations selected for the documentary.
Only 50 organizations will be selected. The founder of the project is the world-renowned British sculptor, Mr. Donald Brown. Broadcast via satellite and television to more than 100 million homes in over 170 countries, Mr. Brown continues to empower audiences across the globe with his inspirational 21st century masterpieces.
Conference calls are being arranged for organizations interested in the film documentary. Please read through the rest of this document, share it with your associates and inform us of your level of interest for inclusion on the next conference call via artistadmin@gmail.com.
The Healing Of Africa Monument Project
It has been 200 years since the abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Although other nationalities can boast to have monuments and memorials specific to the acknowledgement of their experiences, no international iconic monument exists that significantly chronicles the contributions made by people of African ancestry. The Healing Of Africa Monument Project has been launched to pay tribute to the millions of Africans who suffered during the Transatlantic Slave Trade. It will promote peace, healing and forgiveness, inspire hope for the future, and provide economic empowerment for the Motherland and throughout the world.
In the early 1990’s, the Berlin Wall was destroyed and it was broken to pieces. The world then descended on Germany to claim a piece of that wall as an historic memento. The Healing Of Africa Monument reverses this concept. It provides a global opportunity for people to receive a small piece of clay in the mail to touch and make a personal connection. It will then be returned and placed onto the monument as it is being created. All who participate in this way will forever be part of the creative process, secure their place in history, and enrich their legacy as official Founding Patrons for The Healing Of Africa Monument.
Unlike any other commemorative sculptures for people of the African Diaspora, The Healing Of Africa Monument is destined to be taller than The Statue Of Liberty and will probably be the most historic and monumental tribute of our time.
Presidential Alignment
The President of The Gambia, His Excellency, Ya Ya, A. J. J. Jameh, has committed Bintang as the designated land for the location of The Healing Of Africa Monument. This is in part due to the reverence associated with it and its location that is directly opposite Juffureh, the homeland of Kunte Kinte.
Initiation Ceremony
Six months ago, Mr. Brown received his second Presidential invite to The Gambia. On that visit, he conducted the Initiation Ceremony for the project. More than 100 guests joined Mr. Brown on James Island and after making a presentation of the project to them, he invited them to stand in line. One by one they approached him and he placed a small piece of clay in their hands. First, they touched and squeezed the clay to make a personal connection, and then they dipped the clay into the dirt where the bare feet of the enslaved Africans once walked. They then placed each piece of clay together to make one lump, to symbolize unity. After a short prayer, everyone returned to the mainland. The level of emotions that permeated the ceremony was extremely moving. Tears flowed and people embraced. Everyone marvelled at the concept of what had taken place, what was about to happen globally, and that they were the first to initiate the creative process.
Mr. Brown was then invited to speak at a banquet where the guest of honour was the President. As part of his presentation, Mr. Brown approached the President’s table and placed the clay from James Island in front of him. The President then continued the Initiation Ceremony by accepting a piece of clay from Mr. Brown and placing it on top of the lump of clay that had been made by the 100 plus guests on James Island. Mr. Brown held the clay up for all to see and then explained that this would be the very first piece of clay that would be used to begin the creation of The Healing Of Africa Monument. The uproar of approval was further confirmation of what many continue to say - “It’s about time!”.

Third Presidential Invite
Mr. Brown has received his third Presidential invitation to The Gambia for the Ground Breaking Ceremony due to take place this summer.
Founding Patrons
The Initiation Ceremony does not end with James Island and the President. It will continue so that millions of people throughout the African Diaspora, and other supporters, will have the opportunity to honour the ancestors, enrich their legacy, and claim their place in history as Founding Patrons for this project. The Million Man and Million Woman Marches exemplified how one country successfully coordinated millions of people to come together for the betterment and empowerment of each other. The Healing Of Africa Monument Project will not only welcome all those who participated in both marches, it will also open its doors to more than 170 countries around the world.
People continually express the pride, inspiration, humility, and empowerment they already feel when they think about the day they will witness the Unveiling Ceremony of The Healing Of Africa Monument knowing that their piece of clay was used to create it.
Those who become Founding Patrons will receive the following in their Founding Patrons Package:
- A small piece of clay, shipped to their address anywhere in the world, for them to touch and make a personal connection. They will touch the ground on which they stand to acknowledge the global presence of the African Diaspora and other supporters for the project. The clay will then be returned to the foundry in the pre-stamped address envelope and placed onto The Healing Of Africa Monument during its creation. As the clay is placed onto the monument, it will be recorded on film.
- Along with their piece of clay, each Founding Patron will also send in their short Sentence Of Healing to the world.
- Celebrities and or dignitaries will read the Sentence Of Healing on behalf of the Founding Patrons. This will also be filmed and edited together with the film footage showing their piece of clay being placed onto the monument. Thus, their place in history will be further secured and their personal film footage will be permanently available to be viewed online for generations to come.
At this time, only the first 100,000 Founding Patrons are guaranteed to have their Sentence Of Healing read by a celebrity, filmed, and permanently posted on the official project website. However, the DVD documentary of the project will chronicle all the pieces of clay being used to create the monument so that everyone will witness the making of the monument from the pieces of clay sent in by themselves and other Founding Patrons from around the world.
- A set of three exquisite, high quality inspirational prints of The Millennium Monument will be included in the aforesaid package. The Millennium Monument continues to prepare the way for The Healing Of Africa Monument Project and the prints are in great demand. You MUST see this sculpture and read the message of acknowledgement and empowerment behind it. The DVD is also available for you to view at the aforementioned website.
- The name of each Founding Patron will be entered into The Healing Of Africa Journals Of Acknowledgement. One will be buried under the monument in a sealed chamber and another will be available for public viewing online.
- A Certificate Of Authenticity, that can be framed and displayed, will be a visible badge of honour that will further validate individuals as official Founding Patrons.
- Each Founding Patron will receive a copy of The Healing Of Africa Monument Theme Music that will be released on CD.
In addition to appealing to the sense of sight and intellect, special orchestral music will be composed as the official theme music for The Healing Of Africa Monument and released on CD. Mr. Brown has received written confirmation from The New York City Symphony Orchestra stating that they will perform the finished composition.
- Each Founding Patron will be eligible to nominate an organization of their choice, approved by The Healing Of Africa, Limited, to receive a Community Empowerment Award of up to £10. A list of the approved organizations will be posted on the official website, www.thehealingofafrica.com.
- Each Founding Patron will be eligible for random selection to receive The Heritage Award. The latest technology for testing genetic genealogy will be used to determine the ancestral origins of the selected Founding Patrons.
As part of the many awards that will be presented, in celebration of reaching 1 million men and 1 million women Founding Patrons, the first 50,000 Founding Patrons will receive The Heritage Award.
The complete Founding Patrons Package is currently £70.
The Globalization Of A Monument
The journey has been long and arduous and from slavery to the present day, many continue to endure the ongoing challenges throughout the world. The Gambia is only one country, so how can The Healing Of Africa Monument reach people a world away?
The Continual Chain Reaction
Within the design of The Healing Of Africa Monument, there will be a figure of a proud, strong ancestor taking hold of a chain and breaking it apart. The chain will cascade down the sculpture to the ground and vanish into the depths of the earth. However, it will rise up in another country, such as Ghana, and be connected to a different monument that conveys another chapter of the journey, but from Ghana’s perspective.
Another ancestor will be seen in the new Ghanaian sculpture, again ripping the chain apart. Like The Healing Of Africa Monument in The Gambia, the chain will disappear into the Ghanaian soil and rise up again in another country such as Jamaica. It will give birth to a new sculpture and tell a different story from a Jamaican perspective. The globalization of monuments in this way creates a continual chain reaction as the physical chain submerges and reappears in Jamaica, Brazil, England, the USA, and other countries. Each sculpture will be different and will reveal the experience of the African Diaspora from before slavery, through to the present day, and with a view to inspire hope for the future. There are many stories to tell and each monument will be relevant to the town, city, and country where it is placed.
Organizations To Be Selected For Major International Film Documentary
As part of the global awareness and marketing campaign for this project, there will be a special film documentary produced for a worldwide audience. It will chronicle the progress of fifty organizations that have empowered their humanitarian cause through The Healing Of Africa Monument Project. The film documentary will:
- Compare and contrast the consciousness of Americans with that of the British and other countries, where the significance of The Healing Of Africa Monument is concerned,
- Highlight the humanitarian cause, needs, and structure of each organization,
- Follow Founding Patrons of each organization as they travel internationally with the project,
- Capture the progress of each organization as their Founding Patron membership grows,
- Include interview individuals who participated in the Initiation Ceremony on James Island,
- Include interview individuals who become Founding Patrons through the 50 organizations,
- Record the presentation of The Community and Honorary Humanitarian Empowerment Awards,
- Show how the funds are being used by each organization to empower humanity,
- Show the humanitarian impact in The Gambia that the organizations have helped to initiate,
- Show how The Millennium Monument created the foundation for The Healing Of Africa Monument,
- Show how The Healing Of Africa Monument created the foundation for the entire project,
- Include the Ground Breaking Ceremony in The Gambia with the President, and
- Document all the press conferences and Hollywood celebrity guest appearances.
As the project progresses, Founding Patrons of each organization will need to be available to travel to London and Africa, all expenses paid. This will be high profile and heavily documented in magazines, newspapers, television, and radio.
One of the main objectives of the documentary will be to show the world how and why people are becoming Founding Patrons and to make it very clear that this is about honouring the past, as well as promoting peace, healing, forgiveness, unity, and economic empowerment.
Although the potential number of Founding Patrons could run into the millions, this documentary will culminate with 1 million men and 1 million women Founding Patrons. At this stage, each organization featured in the film documentary will then receive an Honorary Humanitarian Empowerment Award of £250,000 to further support their efforts to promote peace, healing, forgiveness, and unity within their community.
Several versions of the film documentary will be edited for different time slots and requirements for a number of networks around the world. Eventually the film documentary will be on the official website.
Organizations may coordinate and encourage their members and associates to find out more about The Healing Of Africa Monument Project. These members and associates will hopefully become Founding Patrons and nominate their organization to receive a Community Empowerment Award. The documentary is open to any country. The first 50 organizations to achieve the requirements will be selected. Their representatives will be flown to London for the international press conference and initial filming of the documentary.
Churches, chapters, sororities, fraternities, community groups, charities, etc. are all welcome. However, there must be a humanitarian focus for the use of the Community and Honorary Humanitarian Empowerment Awards that they will receive.
These selections will be based on the response from each organization. Several websites will be launched shortly that will be dedicated to this project. At this time you may visit www.taosawards.com for general information on The Healing Of Africa Monument Project. It is important that the members and associates of organizations have an understanding of The Healing Of Africa Monument Project if they wish to be considered for this documentary.
One Nomination Per Founding Patron
Part of The Healing Of Africa Monument Project’s objective is to identify and acknowledge the organizations of the Founding Patrons. Many organizations may not be aware that hundreds of thousands of individuals that become Founding Patrons may include many of their own members and associates. The Healing Of Africa, Limited has designed a way to identify the organizations to which Founding Patrons belong or wish to support .
As each person becomes a Founding Patron, they will be asked to nominate one of the approved organizations to receive a Community Empowerment Award. Up to £10 will be designated to an organization for each nomination they receive.
This component of The Healing Of Africa Monument Project is designed to ensure that the economic empowerment is not targeted solely for the continent of Africa but throughout the world.
The selection process will also allow organizations that wish to receive Community Empowerment Awards to be listed on the official website and receive ongoing exposure. They will be promoted via the global marketing campaign to receive additional nominations from individuals who become Founding Patrons but may not be a member of an organization. Nominations from Founding Patrons will be available to any organization on the approved list promoted on the official website.
Each organization will have an accompanying mission statement that they will provide. Individuals becoming Founding Patrons, who may not be members of an organization and have no one to nominate, may read the mission statements and decide which organization to nominate.
Each organization will be responsible for informing their members and associates to nominate their organization if they decide to become Founding Patrons. There is no limit to the amount of nominations that an organization can receive and their Community Empowerment Award will reflect the amount of nominations they have. For example, a church with 1,000 nominations will receive a Community Empowerment Award for £10,000 or an organization with 10,000 nominations will receive a Community Empowerment Award of £100,000.
The selection process will be done in three stages. Although every organization participating may not be selected for the film documentary, a Community Empowerment Award will be presented to every organization that has received nominations.
STAGE ONE
The first 50 organizations with 100 nominations will:
- Receive worldwide exposure and acknowledgement via a full-page feature in an international publication such as Essence or Ebony Magazine,
- Receive a Community Empowerment Award for £1,000, and
- Receive an Honorary Humanitarian Empowerment Award in celebration of the first 1 million men and 1 million women Founding Patrons. This award will be for £12,500 to support their cause.
Please note: The first 50 organizations in this category may not be the same 50 that go on to reach stages two or three.
STAGE TWO
The first 50 organizations with 500 nominations will:
- Receive worldwide exposure and acknowledgement via a full-page feature in an international publication such as Essence or Ebony Magazine,

Company Policy
As a participating organization or Founding Patron, it is imperative that you respect the decisions of individuals who are contemplating becoming Founding Patrons. It is against the Company Policy to overly persuade and/or conduct a hard sell approach to potential Founding Patrons.
Becoming a Founding Patron is a very personal decision and no one should be pressured to become one to benefit an organization securing their nomination. If this project does not inspire an individual to become a Founding Patron, we strongly advise that you respect their decision.
The mission, vision, and integrity of the project must be respected at all times.
The potential reality is that millions of people worldwide becoming Founding Patrons mean millions of nominations will be made. The members, friends, and associates of approved organizations are welcome to share The Healing Of Africa Monument Project with as many people as they wish. They may choose to say to individuals, “If you decide to become a Founding Patron, my organization would greatly appreciate it if you would nominate us to receive a Community Empowerment Award”.
Nominations will be made. Those organizations who inform their members, friends, and associates about The Healing Of Africa Monument will be better prepared to receive multiple nominations both nationally and internationally.
One Organization Represented In Multiple Locations
If your organization has representation or offices regionally, nationally, or internationally, we will monitor the overall results of your collective nominations. Subject to the requirements of your organization, we will institute one of our governing bodies to oversee additional economic awards to further support your organization as a collective. This will not affect your individual Community Empowerment Awards but will generate more funding for you.
Beyond The International Film Documentary
If your organization is not selected for the International Film Documentary, you are welcome to continue receiving nominations even after the 1 million men and 1 million women Founding Patrons mark has been reached. For many organizations, this may prove equally rewarding from an economic empowerment standpoint.
It is the Company Policy that all organizations wishing to be approved submit a written request, along with a mission statement or organization overview, to artistadmin@gmail.com. Upon approval, an organization will be listed on the official website, with their mission statement, for anyone to read and nominate the organization of their choice.
