Black Britannia | 7 Aug 2009 to 28 Feb 2010 Black Britannia showcases 30 inspirational portraits of Black Britons by photographer John Ferguson, celebrating their contribution to British culture and public life over the last few decades. Surgeons, teachers and fire-fighters feature alongside celebrities such as Lewis Hamilton, Frank Bruno, Charlie Williams and Ms Dynamite. Each photograph demonstrates the individual’s strength of character and determination to succeed in their chosen field, establishing them as someone to look up to. more

Staying Power Exploring Black British Identity through Photography
Yes, it's come around again....the 5th Huntley Archives Conference at the London Metropolitan Archives on February 20th 2010. I am delighted to say that this year the conference is centring around young people, both is terms of the overall theme (i.e. 'Young, Black and British: Identity and Community through the Generations') and creative contributions. I am particularly excited that members of the Writing, Acting & Publishing Project for Youngsters (WAPPY) will be reading/performing their creative pieces during the entertainment part of the event in the afternoon. There are also a Poetry competition and Greetings card competition linked to the event. download pdf
